I'M ASHLEY

the photographer behind the lens at Ashley Skow Photography and the heart behind the creativity, family, and community that keep it all going. I’m a small-town Iowa girl who wears many hats photographer, homeschool mom of three girls, wife, proud farm wife, fire wife, Pymosa 4-H Club Leader, Cass County Fair Superintendent, member of the Cass County Youth Action Committee, and Iowa County Fair Photography Judge.

I love capturing real, meaningful moments, the kind that tell your story and remind you what truly matters. My studio in downtown Atlantic is my happy place, filled with warm light, laughter, and a touch of everyday real life.

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll find me spending time with my girls, helping on the farm, or planning our next family adventure. I believe in faith, family, hard work, and finding beauty in the simple things.

Along with running my studio, I’m a Certified Professional Photographer and proud member of the Professional Photographers of America and Professional Photographers of Iowa. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Business Administration, graduating cum laude from Buena Vista University. I’ve been honored to serve as an Iowa County Fair Photography Judge and help local youth grow their creative skills through 4-H and FFA programs.

Behind every great photograph, there’s a story and often, a team.

Meet my husband, Logan my right-hand man and the heart of our behind-the-scenes crew. From helping build and tear down studio sets to second-shooting weddings, he’s been part of this journey from the start. Logan often tags along to sessions, offering support for the dads, carrying gear, and doing all the little things that make a big difference.

Being a girl dad has taught him to notice the details most people might miss like grabbing the forgotten bouquet from the bridal suite or helping a client feel comfortable in front of the camera. Our bride and grooms adore his calm presence, and I couldn’t imagine doing this without him.

When he’s not by my side at the studio, Logan works on our family’s farm and serves as a volunteer firefighter, assistant 4-H Club leader, and serves on the Cass County Fair Board.

Together, we believe in God, family, teamwork, and serving others building a business rooted in hard work, laughter, and heart.

FAMILY IN FOCUS

Family has always been at the heart of Ashley Skow Photography, and I’m so grateful that my daughters are growing up alongside this dream. With homeschooling, the studio has become the perfect place for them to learn about business, creativity, relationships, and hard work lessons that go far beyond the classroom.

You’ll often see my girls helping at the studio, being assistants at a session, or modeling for fun new sets. They’re learning responsibility, teamwork, and the joy that comes from doing something you love.

What are your hours?

Studio sessions are by appointment only to allow each client a personalized experience. Office hours vary seasonally — reach out anytime, and we’ll find a time that works best for you!

Where are you located?

My studio is located at 420 Chestnut Street in downtown Atlantic, Iowa, but I happily travel wherever your story takes me — from destination weddings in Cancun to senior experiences in Salt Lake City, Utah, or Las Vegas.Wherever you dream your session to be, the options are endless!

What payment options do you accept?

I accept credit and debit cards, cash, checks, and Venmo. Invoices can also be paid securely online. Payment plans are available for select sessions and packages.

When should I book?

As soon as possible! While I may have openings within 4–8 weeks, those prime weekend or sunset spots often fill fast, especially during prime seasons like Fall. Booking early gives you plenty of time to plan with me and ensures we can create the perfect session together. I don’t overbook — this allows flexibility for weather and guarantees that every client receives the time, attention, and quality they deserve.

How long is the typical wait after a session?

The wait isn’t really a thing here! We’ll schedule your order appointment right away for a time that fits both our schedules — sometimes the very next day, or within a week or two. You’ll always know exactly when you’ll get to see your portraits, and we’ll sit down together to choose your favorites and design your custom artwork. This approach ensures you end up with photos you truly love — beautifully retouched, professionally printed, and ready to enjoy for generations, not just hundreds of unpolished digitals sitting on a screen.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
